Yankees captain Derek Jeter has been getting some pretty awesome gifts during his last season. However, the Texas Rangers pulled out all the stops to show their appreciation for Jeter when they brought out former President George W. Bush. The former president did not come empty-handed either; bringing Jeter a framed pitcher of the two at Yankee Stadium when Bush threw out the first pitch during Game 3 of the 2001 World Series.
Even Jeter was in awe that the former president made an appearance saying, “It’s an experience. That’s a gift within itself. Not too many people can say they’ve had the President come out and honor them in a ceremony. It meant a lot to me.”
Michael Young and Ivan Rodriguez also had gifts for the Yankee legend, both donating $10,000 to Jeter’s foundation, Turn 2. The Rangers also gave him a pair of personalized cowboy boots. The Yankees will honor their captain on September 7th.
