The Seattle Seahawks are known for their tough defense and high powered offense. Unfortunately, they are also becoming known for having multiple players serving suspensions for drug use. Just this past week, both Walter Thurmond and Brandon Browner were suspended. Thurmond will miss four games, while Browner is facing a one-year suspension. Browner was suspended four games last season for using PEDs.
When asked about losing two teammates due to drug use, the wide receiver stated, “You are affecting way more than yourself. I feel like that was kind of a selfish move on both those guys’ part.” Seven Seattle players have been suspended for violating the NFL’s policy since 2011. Only Richard Sherman’s suspension has been overturned in that time period.
The Seahawks have been the favorite to win the Super Bowl and Tate is right, losing players like this is not going to help. Pete Carroll says that the Seahawks are about giving guys second chances, but I would not expect to see Browner back on the team. He is currently dealing with a groin injury and will be a free agent at the end of this season. This was his second chance with the team and he blew it.
