San Antonio- Sources at ESPN have reported that when Gregg Popovich commits to his 24th season as the Spurs head coach, he will sign a 3-year deal. This deal will maintain his position as the highest paid head coach in the league.

Popovich recently hinted his return to San Antonio as his future was up for much debate during the end of this season. After the Spurs failed to beat the Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs it was time for the team to secure their head coach.

Popovich told the media in regards to his contract “That’s up in the air. I’ve never talked about my contract in all these years, my contract is basically my business.”

He teased reporters about potential teams he would sign with in the future.

“I’m currently in negotiation, could very well end up with the Portofino Flyers or the Positano Pirates.”

Coach Pop went on to talk about plans to extend Rudy Gay. He also spoke about the return of Dejounte Murray and the crowded backfield problem he will likely have next season.

If this news is true, this will extend Coach Pop’s list of victories. He currently has 1,245 wins under his belt, five championships, and has consistently led his team to the playoffs for 22 years in a row.
