Back in October, news broke that former teammates Matt Barnes and Derek Fisher had been in some type of altercation involving Barnes’ estranged wife Gloria Govan. Govan and Fisher allegedly had been seeing each other at the time and when Barnes found out he went ballistic. Barnes may have been mad that he found out about the relationship via a text message from one of the couple’s children.
Barned drove to Govan’s home and confronted both and allegedly shoved Fisher. He also spit on his former wife and mother of his children. Police were called to the home, but no one pressed charges. After the incident went public Barnes called it a “personal matter” and his focus was on his children and basketball.
Barnes blames Fisher for the story even going public in the first place. Clippers beat writer Ben Bolch released a series of tweets quoting how Barnes felt about all the publicity.
Matt Barnes on Derek Fisher: "We're 2 grown men who should have handled 2 grown men's business, but he wanted to run and tell the cops & NBA

Matt Barnes: "The New York Post is run by the New York Knicks, so it's obviously a way of trying to make me look like the bad guy."

The league has finally handed down punishment for the altercation and he will serve a two game suspension. He will likely miss Memphis’ game against the Heat tomorrow and their game against the Jazz on Saturday.
