In an offseason that has been nothing but bad news for New England Patriots tight ends, finally some good news for one. Rob Gronkowski was seen at practice today participating in full pads. While it is still highly unlikely that he will be ready for the season opener against the Bills, it is still a step in the right direction. The Patriots made the decision to keep Gronkowski on the active roster instead of placing him on the PUP list which would mean he would miss the first six weeks of the season.
It has been a tough offseason for Gronkowski who underwent multiple surgeries on his forearm and back. It will be a welcomed sight for Patriots fans as they still try to deal with the loss of Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez is currently in jail awaiting trial for first-degree murder. The Patriots must feel confident in Gronkowski’s return as they waived tight ends Jake Ballard and Daniel Fells.
