Yes, Floyd Mayweather is still undefeated.  Yes, Floyd Mayweather made a lot of money. Yes, a lot of people paid to watch the fight either at home or out somewhere.  However, some fans decided to make a difference.

Started by ESPN analyst Sarah Spain, some decided to donate the money they could have used to buy the fight to help a greater cause.  With the hashtag “#MoneyWhereMyMouthIs”, Spain and many others donated to a charity that helps domestic violence victims with anything they may need. Mayweather has had a very long history of domestic violence arrests, seven total by five different women.  One of his children even witnessed one incident and detailed it in a police report made public.  He was sentenced to 90 days in a Las Vegas jail for one incident in 2012.

He reportedly even banned CNN’s Rachel Nichols and ESPN’s Michelle Beadle from receiving credentials to the fight because they have been vocal about his past arrests.   Something his team immediately tried to deny and claim there was a misunderstanding.

Mayweather is definitely not the only athlete to ever be convicted of putting hands on a woman.  However, it seems that he gets a pass because of his talent in the ring.  Some try to say you can separate the two, the man in the ring and the man in his everyday life, but does that logic actually make sense?  Can we separate Aaron Hernandez the Patriots tight end from Aaron Hernandez the convicted murderer?  Of course not, so why does Floyd get a pass?
