Definitely not the way Jason Kidd wanted to start off his coaching career! Stemming from his DWI arrest last year, the NBA has suspended Brooklyn head coach for the first two games of the season. Kidd pled guilty to the charge of DWI after being arrested in the Hamptons. He smashed his SUV into pole in July 2012. He will miss the Nets’ first game against the Cavaliers and their home opener against the Miami Heat. Lawrence Frank, the Nets assistant coach and Kidd’s former coach, will likely take over for him.
The irony of the situation is that newly-acquired power forward Kevin Garnett will wear the number two in honor of former teammate and good friend Malik Sealy. Sealy was killed when a drunk driver struck his car. He was on his way home from Garnett’s 24th birthday party. Just get a driver!
