It was an emotional night for Celtics player Jeff Green last night.  The Celtics were playing in Cleveland and there was someone special watching Green play.  Dr.  Lars Svensson was the doctor who performed emergency heart surgery after it was discovered that he had an aortic aneurysm.  Green missed the entire 2011-2012 season recovering, but has been a solid player for the Celtics this season.  Green wears his scar very proudly and has always been open about his gratitude and love of life.

Yesterday he got to show off just how thankful he was in front of the man who he credits with saving his life.  With 2.1 seconds left and the Celtics down by one,  the Celtics had possession of the ball on their side of the court.  The ball is inbounded to Green who then drives for a beautiful layup with 0.2 seconds left and wins the game for Boston!  After the game, Green went up Dr.  Svensson and gave him a hug in what could be the tear jerker moment of the season.  It was such a great moment for everyone to see how far he has come and to show to never give up on your dreams.

Jeff Green had this to say about the man who saved his life, “To have a game like that in front of him, I think I made him proud.  Just a year ago & a couple months, I was under that bright light w/ him working on me. It’s a blessing to be here  I’m lucky to be back on the court and I owe it all to him.”
