Despite the success the 49ers have had in recent years, it appears the mood in San Francisco is not too upbeat. According to NFL Network analyst and former player Deion Sanders, the players in the locker room want him out. Sanders did not specify which players he was talking about, but he did say the players complained that Harbaugh’s treats players like “children”.
He continued by saying, Are you really down with your head coach, San Francisco 49ers? Because the way it looks and what I’m hearing, you’re really not down for your head coach. And that’s a problem.” Tensions may have cooled off after the 49ers got a much needed win against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was not an easy win, however. There was a blocked punt, four sacks given up, and more importantly another game their $100 million quarterback struggled.
There are a lot of problems with this team on all three sides of the ball. The offense is not clicking with the 49ers trying to get more carries for Carlos Hyde over veteran Frank Gore. The defense has struggled to get pressure on the quarterback with the absence of Aldon Smith. Yesterday, Darren Sproles, who is one of the fastest and shiftiest runners in the league, returned a punt for a touchdown. The small little cracks that were once able to be hidden by winning seem to be coming forward now that the 49ers have not looked as good this season.
Will Harbaugh last the entire season? Probably. It is being rumored that he will likely be offered the head coaching job at Michigan with Brady Hoke under fire. However, it is unlikely he takes it. This just seems like an overreaction to a frustrated team who needs to focus on winning and playing smart football.
All I know is I hope he goes to UM.
