Joe Flacco has been coming under fire ever since he won Super Bowl 47.  First it was his massive contract and now it is his casting in a new movie.  So who is the reigning Super Bowl MVP tapped to play that is causing such a controversy?  None other than Hall of Fame quarterback Johnny Unitas.  The quarterback took to his Twitter to announce his excitement.

Joe Unitas, Johnny’s son from a second marriage, is co-producing the movie “Unitas We Stand” based on the Baltimore Colts superstar. However, Johnny’s oldest son John Unitas Jr. and his grandson J.C. Unitas think Flacco portraying Johnny Unitas is an “embarrassing choice”.   They are so embarrassed by Joe’s choice of Flacco that they are thinking about suing him and preventing him profiting off the Johnny Unitas name.  Joe sent out a damage control apology to Flacco and decided not to slander his family in the press.

Instead he told The Baltimore Sun, “Because of our common respect for Dad I’m willing to overlook any negative comments made by any member of my family and to put aside petty issues from the past.  I would more than welcome an open discussion about ‘Unitas We Stand’ and any potential involvement they might want to have.”  Flacco will film scenes from the 1958 NFL Championship game against the New York Giants.

Poor Joe Flacco.  It seems like everyone is ready to criticize him for every move he makes.  He did ask for it when he became one of the top three highest paid quarterbacks!  Hopefully he can channel all this negativity into motivation on the field this season as he will be criticized for every throw good and bad!
