Wow, what a night in Flushing. Put it in the books, Johan Santana has officially made history for the New York Mets. Johan Santana has thrown the first Mets’ no-hitter in 8,020 games aka ever. What an emotional night for Santana and all the Mets’ players. After coming back from shoulder surgery and doubts of him even playing a full season, what does he do? He shuts all of the New York media up.
The classiest part of Johan? He first pointed to the fans and said “Thank you”. No Johan, thank YOU for making history and putting smiles on fans faces again after losing their marquis shortstop, having their owner’s finances dragged threw the mud, and being injury-ridden for yet another season. Thank you for your hard work and tenacity. As a Mets fan, I love you for the fire you play for every pitch you threw. And a special thank you to Mike Baxter for making an awesome catch against the wall to protect the no-hitter. I hope you come out tomorrow and play your heart out again.
