John Fox and his family got the scare of their lives last week, when the Denver head coach started feeling light headed while playing golf and was immediately taken to the hospital. Doctors performed an aortic valve replacement, something Fox knew he had to get done, but was hoping to be able to wait until after this season. The surgery was a success and immediately after being given his cell phone, Fox got in touch with Jack Del Rio, the Broncos interim coach.
Del Rio explained how Coach Fox sounded, “He’s still in ICU and his spirits are really good. He was a little tired. Obviously he’s gone through quite a bit, his body has been put through quite a bit.” Fox was more concerned about his team playing their AFC West rival, San Diego, who is coming off a loss to the Washington Redskins. Fox remains in Charlotte, NC where the surgery was performed and will likely be out resting for the remainder of the regular season. It should put his mind at ease that he has Peyton Manning running the offense! We are all hoping he makes a full recovery and we can see him on the sidelines again soon!
