It was a normal day at practice for the Denver Broncos who get ready to travel to Kansas City this Sunday. Just as they were about to conclude, a special guest stopped by to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Head coach John Fox travelled back to Denver and gave his team a speech following practice.
Fox had been in Charlotte, NC recovering from open heart surgery. He has been feeling well and is expected to be back to his job next Monday. It is unclear if he will be on the sidelines or in the coach’s box, similar to Texans coach Gary Kubiak. Kubiak suffered a mini-stroke on the sidelines the same weekend Fox was hospitalized. Fox has been in constant contact with interim coach Jack Del Rio as well as the team captains.
Quarterback Peyton Manning said, “A couple phone conversations early in the week … He’s given me tips and reminders, things he thinks I need to work on, things he thinks the offense needs to work on, and those have always been very helpful.”
The Broncos remain firm that their number one priority is the coach’s health and not putting too much stress on his heart. It is great to see that Fox has made so much progress this quickly. It had to be a great Thanksgiving for the Broncos to see Fox happy and healthy.
