Just weeks ago the video was released allegedly showing Baltimore running back Ray Rice dragging his fiance Janay Palmer out of an elevator after the two got into a physical altercation. The couple were both arrested for the dispute that went down at a casino in Atlantic City, NJ. Neither have gone before the judge after his court appearance was postponed.
Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome admitted that he did see the tape, but neither the Ravens nor the NFL have taken any disciplinary measure yet. Ravens’ head coach John Harbaugh did a press conference today announcing tight end Dennis Pitta’s new five-year deal with the team. While at the podium, he also talked about Rice, saying the couple have entered a couples seminar together. He said, “I haven’t seen anything different, just like you haven’t seen anything different. Ray has told me his side of it, and everything we’ve seen so far is very consistent with what he said.”
It would be hard to see how Rice would not face any discipline for his actions, but it is unclear just who will come down on the running back. Rice has never been in trouble in the past which makes this situation that much harder to believe. Harbaugh explained that “the facts will determine the consequences”.
