Just another layer to the mess of the Miami Dolphins locker room. Â Offensive tackle Jonathan Martin has reportedly checked into a hospital for “emotional distress” stemming from this incident. Â Head coach Joe Philbin has visited Martin in the hospital. Â While there, Martin did not speak of any incidents of harassment/bullying to his coach. Â A lot of fellow NFL players who played with Matin at Stanford University have reached out to him to show their support.
Steelers guard David  DeCastro who played with Martin is on those who reached out him. “I could care less about football.  I just wanted to make sure he was OK as a person, and he is. So that’s good, that’s what’s important,” he stated.  Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck also reached out to his former teammate.
The National Football Post reported that this is not the first time Martin has gone AWOL. Â During OTAs, Martin did not show up. Â OTAs are voluntary so it was not as apparent that there was an issue. Â However, if a coach or teammate had asked why he chose not to attend, maybe this could have been stopped a lot earlier this season. Â It is terrible to see how out of control this situation has become. Â This does not look good for the Dolphins’ coaching staff and the leaders in the locker room. Â With members of the Dolphins team blaming J0nathan Martin for this situation, it is doubtful that he will ever play another down for Miami.
