The monstrous contract that the Seattle Mariners gave to their pitching ace, Felix Hernandez, has been finalized. It was stalled because of concerns over the pitcher’s elbow. His contract valued at seven years and $175 million which makes it the biggest contract for a pitcher in history. I think it is a great move for the Mariners, but I disagree with the length on the contract. There is no guarantee that Hernandez will stay at this elite level in five, six years. However, Hernandez is only 26 so the contract secures the ace throughout his prime. It shows Seattle fans that they are at least trying to put the pieces together to compete again for a World Series title.
