He was just introduced as the New York Knicks president a few weeks ago and already he has made his presence known. Phil Jackson as officially fired all of the members of the Knicks coaching staff, including head coach Mike Woodson. Woodson has been on the hot seat all year after his players appeared to quit on him.
The new president made an officially statement earlier, “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Mike Woodson and his entire staff. The coaches and players on this team had an extremely difficult 2013-14 season, and blame should not be put on one individual. But the time has come for change throughout the franchise as we start the journey to assess and build this team for next season and beyond.”
Jackson will begin looking for a new head coach immediately and many believe he will hire Steve Kerr. Kerr played for the Chicago Bulls when Jackson was the head coach. This team will need a lot more work than just hiring a head coach. They do not have a first round pick in this year’s draft and they are already over the salary cap. Whether or not Carmelo Anthony will stay really will not impact this team because regardless they will have to rebuild next season and likely will not compete for a title.
