LeBron James is one of the most giving athletes on the planet. James has donated his time, money and energy into making the world a better place. When the Getty Fire broke out near James’ home in Brentwood, he, along with his wife Savannah and three children, were forced to evacuate their home and seek shelter.
The family’s home was put under an evacuation order at 2:00AM on Monday morning. James tweeted the difficulty in finding a secure place for his family to stay while firefighters battled the blazes. He later said his family found a safe location and that he was praying for everyone else to do the same.
He was only able to get around two hours of sleep before Lakers’ morning practice. James spoke about the fires at shoot around this morning, telling the Los Angeles Times,
I am blessed, and I am truly blessed to be able to get my family to safety at that point in time and not be able to face anything that was harmful to us. And I wish the same for everyone else in the community that’s ever had to deal with these things over the years. There’s been so many natural disasters over many decades that have been harmful. People have lost lives. But like I said, the most important thing is the first responders, how important they are, how committed they are to be able to respond at that hour, at that speed.

To show his gratitude for the hardworking firefighters and first responders, James arranged a taco truck to accommodate everyone involved in the fight. The fire has been raging since yesterday and as of this afternoon has grown to 656 acres. Thousands of residents are still under an evacuation order. Tomorrow will be the earliest that they might be allowed back to their homes.
We are praying for all of those affected by the Getty Fire.
