In one of the weirdest moments of the World Cup, Uruguay’s Luis Suarez was seen biting the arm of Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini. Suarez was immediately banned nine international games and four months away from all football by FIFA. Suarez vowed to appeal FIFA’s decision insisting he did not mean to bite Chiellini.
He explained, “After the impact… I lost my balance, making my body unstable and falling on top of my opponent. At that moment I hit my face against the player, leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth.” However, FIFA felt that suspension was valid as Suarez did not show any remorse for his actions. They also cited previous actions to indicate that the punishment would stand.
Suarez has flown back to Uruguay and tweeted today wishing everyone thank you for their support and to continue to support his team today in their match against Colombia. His explanation is ridiculous, when was the last time you fell and bit someone to break your fall? Give it up Suarez, no one believes you. Just enjoy your suspension.
