After doing his best Mike Tyson impersonation, minor league pitcher Miguel Olivo has been suspended. Olivo is a member of the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate and the Dodgers have placed the catcher on the suspended list while they investigate the altercation.
Allegedly Olivo and teammate Alex Guerrero got into an altercation in the dugout which resulted in Olivo biting a piece of Guerrero’s ear off. Guerrero was rushed to the hospital, and according to his agent Scott Boras, he will need plastic surgery to repair his ear. Guerrero could miss up to five weeks of playing time.
This is not the first time Olivo has been in hot water with a team. Last season, the Miami Marlins also suspended him after he left the team without permission. He also got into a heated argument with former New York Mets’ shortstop Jose Reyes.
