As if one 2 seed losing to a 15 seed wasn’t enough, another one had to lose as well. In a strange turn of events the Duke Blue Devils are sent home after a crushing loss to Lehigh. I cannot even remember the last time Duke was in the tournament for only one game. As a Duke fan, this one definitely stings and will sting for a little while. The Devils kept their fans on edge up until the very last second, but they did not play like the Duke team that we watched all season. No one could buy a jump shot.
There were turnovers all over the place. Everyone was in foul trouble. It just looked like a mess and they did not represent themselves and their coach, Coach K, like they should have and have been doing all season. Most importantly, I have always stressed this MAKE YOUR FREE THROWS. Mason Plumlee definitely showed improvement, but Austin Rivers should have made that first shot with 28 seconds left on the clock to make it a 2 point game instead of forcing a 3.
From there it was just a mess with a wide open shot for Lehigh and then Duke put them on the line. The final score 75-70. Welcome to the NCAA tournament where dreams and brackets get busted.
