Just as predicted, the drama we all saw a few weeks ago when the New York Jets lost to Miami Dolphins was just the beginning. At first, it appeared that all the blame was falling on captain Santonio Holmes’s shoulders after he seemed to quit on the team.
The new target… fellow captain and quarterback Mark Sanchez. The Daily News published a few anonymous quotes from a couple of fellow Jets teammates. Some of the quotes include, “We have to bring in another quarterback that will make him work at practice. He’s lazy and content because he knows he’s not going to be benched.”, So many games, he looked defeated before he ever took the field, and “If you have a chance to get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning and you don’t do it, then you’re stupid. If I could get a healthy 36-year-old Peyton Manning, then, hell yeah, I would trade Sanchez.”
Those are some harsh statements that should NEVER have been made public. This is the true definition of no team unity. The first rule for any member of a team is that whatever is said in private, never gets discussed with outside sources. With Brian Schottenheimer, the Jets’ offensive coordinator, leaving, it seems as if he dodged a big bullet by being the next to blame. In my opinion, pointing fingers will get them nowhere and they need to be men and accept responsibility and realize it is every one of their faults that the Jets did not advance. On the other side of town, Victor Cruz has said that him and Hakeen Nicks have become great friends with Nicks giving him advice on the field as well as advice on his newborn daughter. Where will this story go next?
