While the House Republicans are busy tearing down our Deputy Attorney General, NFL players were out trying to spread some joy. The same NFL players that were called unpatriotic and of course our president referring to them as sons of bitches were out buying supplies for those families recently released from detention centers. Washington cornerback Josh Norman read about what was going on decided he could not sit back and just watch.
Along with Saints linebacker Demario Davis, the pair traveled down to Texas. Armed with toys and other comforts that many of us take for granted, the two headed off to meet some of the migrants. Norman spoke to USA Today about what it was like meeting the children, “We walked into the place and you could see how broken they were. So disheartened. They don’t know where they are, really. Then we brought out the book bags and it was like flipping a light switch. You could see the darkness replaced by light and the joy.” The two were out at 3:00AM at a local San Antonio Walmart buying everything from toiletries to toys according to Norman’s social media accounts.

The two arrived at a Greyhound bus stop at 11:00AM to hand out backpacks. After, the pair took about 30 mothers and children out to eat at a local restaurant. They were not done, however, as they also bought about 20 boxes of pizza.

There was a time, not too long ago, when it appeared the President was somewhat open to listening to what the NFL players were protesting and challenged them to present cases where defendants deserved to be pardoned. Many did, but the President has yet to take up any of these pardon cases. Shocking. It seems like the NFL players are about that action, our politicians, not so much. Thank you for choosing to not stick to sports.
