Sports Illustrated took their annual poll and named who was the most overrated player in the NFL. To me this was always a no-brainer. However, as a “surprise” to most, New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow was crowned the most overrated athlete. I am still shocked that people thought he did not deserve the title. He had one great throw in the playoffs against the Steelers last year and I cannot remember him ever being accurate before or after that. This year, he doesn’t even get playing time and normally just warms the bench with the towel guys.
The ironic part is that Tony Romo and starting New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez are tied for second place. It seems as though the sports world has finally realized that behind all the smoke and mirrors that is the Jets circus, is not a lot of talent. Rex Ryan has really built his team up to fans and media, but the team has lacked real substance. Of course Ryan had a comment when he heard about his quarterbacks unfavorable rating.
“Wow, what are you going to say?” he said, laughing. “I don’t know how to comment on that. I just know I’m happy they’re on my football team — on our football team. Seems like the Jets always get something, you know?”
It just is not a good week to be a New York Jets quarterback.
Unleash Tim Tebow already :). It won’t be any worse!
