Here’s a look at the status of players who suffered injuries during Week 6.
Season Ending Injuries
Key Injuries
As if the Steelers’ 30-15 loss to the Dolphins wasn’t bad enough, losing Ben Roethlisberger made it worse. The Steelers will have to go into Week 7’s game against the Patriots without their star quarterback. Roethlisberger suffered a torn meniscus on Sunday, but managed to play through the pain in the second half. The veteran QB had surgery on Monday and experts say that he could be out 4-6 weeks.
The Packers will be without their key running back for a while. The team placed Eddie Lacy on injured reserve after he had surgery for a left ankle injury. It is still unclear if Lacy will miss the rest of the year, but sources expect him to return late in the season.
Other Injuries to Watch
49ers running back Carlos Hyde did not practice on Tuesday, as he was seen with his right arm in a sling. Hyde sustained a shoulder injury during the third quarter of the 49ers’ 45-16 loss in Buffalo on Sunday. He is currently the team’s rushing leader with 429 yards with six touchdowns on 109 carries this season. When asked about Hyde’s status, head coach Chip Kelly said, “I don’t know exactly the long term prognosis of it.” Hyde will not play Sunday against the Buccaneers.
Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles was listed as questionable after experiencing swelling in his surgically repaired knee. Charles did not make his season debut until week four this season due to his torn ACL.
Another running back to watch is the Bills LeSean McCoy. McCoy left practice on Wednesday after his hamstring tightened up. He did not return until Friday when he was limited. McCoy will likely be a “game-time decision” for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins.
Terrell Suggs will likely not play Sunday against the Jets. The Ravens linebacker suffered a torn bicep last week against the Giants and missed practice all week.
Good News
Giants fans can rest easy knowing wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. is likely to play Sunday against the Rams. Beckham was limited in practice this week with a hip injury but the team announced on Friday that he was “probable.”
Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians announced on Friday that quarterback Carson Palmer will be “fine” for Sunday night’s game against the Cardinals.
