Here is a status update for injuries affecting each NHL team:
Arizona Coyotes
The Coyote’s right winger, Steve Downie, has been sidelined as of Thursday due to an upper body injury. Downie did not play in the Coyotes Thursday night game against the Edmonton Oilers and it is questionable whether he will take the ice on Saturday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Boston Bruins
Bruins’ forward David Pastrnak is still sidelined due to a small non-displaced fracture in his foot. Pastrnak has not played since Oct. 31 and has no current timetable for his return; Bruins’ general manager Don Sweeney said that they “have to get him some time,” before his return could be predicted.
Buffalo Sabres
Sabre’s defenseman Mike Weber has been sidelined this week due to a lower body injury; he is on a day-to-day basis. The exact nature of Weber’s injury has not been released but he had reportedly gotten injured in the Sabres’ game against the Canucks on Saturday.
Chicago Blackhawks
Ryan Garbutt, forward for the Chicago Blackhawks, has been sidelined due to illness. Garbutt is on a day-to-day basis, and is hoping to get back on the ice for the Blackhawks’ game against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.
Duncan Keith, Blackhawks’ defenseman, was recently sidelined due to a knee injury, but might be expected to return to the ice in the next week.
Columbus Blue Jackets
Blue Jackets’ centerman Alexander Wennberg has been placed on injured reserve due to a foot injury, an injury he attempted to play through at first. Wennberg’s injury is expected to keep him off the ice for two weeks, but is expected to return at the end of that two week period.
Colorado Avalanche
Avalanche goalie Semyon Varlamov has been sidelined due to a groin injury he received this week. Varlamov has been placed on a day-to-day basis and is hoping to get back in the net soon.
Detroit Red Wings
Kyle Quincey, Red Wings’ defenseman, has been recently placed on injured reserve; it was announced that Quincey will be receiving surgery on Saturday. Quincey is expected to be ready to join the team again when he fully recovers from the injury, which is expected to take around six weeks.
Edmonton Oilers
Benoit Pouliot, Oilers’ forward, has been sidelines due to illness; he is on a day-to-day basis and is expected to make a return soon.
Nashville Predators
Paul Gaustad, Predators’ center, has been sidelined with a lower body injury and is on a day-to-day basis. Gaustad hopes to return to the ice on Saturday’s game against Winnipeg.
Predator’s goalie, Carter Hutton, has been placed on injured reserve due to an upper body injury. The exact nature of Hutton’s injury has not been announced, but he is on a day-to-day basis.
Eric Nystrom, Predators’ forward, has been placed on injured reserve due to an upper body injury. He is on a day-to-day basis and is expected to return soon.
Philadelphia Flyers
Flyers’ forward, R.J. Umberger has been sidelined with a lower body injury on Tuesday. Umberger’s exact injury has not been released but he is on a day-to-day basis.
San Jose Sharks
Ben Smith, Sharks’ forward, has been sidelined due to an “apparent head injury” as reported by CSN. The team has not announced the nature of Smith’s injury and has only said that he remains unavailable.
St. Louis Blues
Steve Ott, Blues’ forward, was sidelined due to an upper body injury. Ott is on a day-to-day basis and is expected to return soon.
Tampa Bay Lightning
Lightning forward, Ondrej Palat, has been sidelined due to a lower body injury. Palat injured his ankle in the Lightnings’ game against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday where Wild forward, Nino Niederreiter lost his balance near the Lightning net and fell onto Palat’s left leg. Palat is expected to be sidelined up to five weeks due to the ankle injury.
Vancouver Canucks
Canucks’ center, Brandon Sutter, has been sidelined as the result of an undisclosed injury. Sutter’s injury is believed to be a small annoyance and is day-to-day; Sutter is expected to return to the ice fairly quickly.
Washington Capitals
Capitals’ defenseman, Brooks Orpik, was sidelined after leaving Tuesday’s game against the Red Wings just after the second period. Orpik is expected to be evaluated and is day-to-day.
