Last night, I was in attendance of the Rutgers vs. Villanova game in what started as a blow out. I got there a little late and it was already 28-7 with Villanova killing Rutgers. The game did not really get exciting until the second half when it looked like a miracle comeback was about to happen. Unfortunately, Rutgers only pulled within one point of the Wildcats and just could never capture the lead. It was not for lack of effort, however, the Scarlet Knights really tried to put on a show for their fans at home. The crowd really got into with a huge dunk by Kadeem Jack.
However, the Knights had a lot of bad calls go against them and were constantly in the bonus and allowing Villanova to shoot free throws. This will definitely improve with time considering most of the Knights are underclassmen. The final score was 77-71. The game did go down to the final second especially when freshman Myles Mack hit a huge three pointer to pull the Knights within three with 45 seconds left to go, however, after a Villanova turnover that would give Rutgers the ball back, Mack was called for a travel. That is the point that fans started leaving in droves.
