Well, this sucks for Carolina Panthers fans. Defensive end Greg Hardy, who was recently given the franchise tag, was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. According to the police report, the couple, who have been together since September, got into a physical altercation early this morning.
The victim suffered minor cuts and bruises from the incident, but refused medical treatment. The couple allegedly had been out together drinking at a club. The Panthers have made a statement regarding the incident, “We are very disappointed to learn of the allegations involving Greg and are concerned for all parties as we continue to investigate.”
Hardy is owed $13.1 million this season. Everyone was so worried about Michael Sam’s presence in the league as an openly gay man. Yet, no one has come out to discuss kicking out those who are accused of assaulting their wives or girlfriends. It might be time for society to rethink that.
