Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is back this week and adding fuel to this game’s fire, referring to Lions’ defensive end Ndamukong Suh, “Donkey Kong Suh”. Newton was sidelined last week after suffering a rib injury during preseason. In his absence, Derek Anderson led the Panthers to a win, but this time they will face a very tough defensive front and a very high-powered offense.
The Panther defense will have a tough day trying to contain Calvin Johnson who had an explosive game against the Giants to open the season. The Panthers are a much tougher defense, but containing Johnson is no small task.
After hearing the calls for Roger Goodell and/or Carolina to take a stand, defensive end Greg Hardy will NOT play today. The Panthers have deactivated Hardy. Hardy was convicted of domestic abuse, but has filed an appeal for a jury trial. That will be a major loss for Carolina, but one that had to be done. Panthers vs. Lions-who you takin?
