Apparently, being a Stanley Cup champion isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Just ask Blackhawks star Patrick Kane, because right now, he’s not partying like the rest of his teammates. Kane has had his fair share of trouble on the ice, but now it looks his off the ice trouble is the worst of all.
The 26-year old, 3-time Stanley Cup Champion is currently being investigated for allegedly raping a woman. The Buffalo News were the first to break the story along with many details of the case so far. The alleged incident occurred somewhere between August 1st and 2nd after the victim and Kane left a nightclub in Buffalo before going to Kane’s house where the incident was said to have occurred.
Right now, the police are investigating Kane and have already searched his house, trying to find evidence and are currently running forensic tests. The police have not released a statement in regards to any charges against Kane but have released a general statement to the media:
“The Town of Hamburg Police Department is investigating an incident that allegedly occurred at the residence of NHL player Patrick Kane last weekend. At this time, we are gathering information and awaiting forensic testing results. We will have no further comment on this investigation at this time.”
Kane has not released a statement yet, but the NHL and the Chicago Blackhawks have both released statements in regards to Kane. The NHL’s statement is as follows, “We are aware of the police investigation and are following developments,” and the Blackhawks statement is very similar, “We are aware of the matter and are in the process of gathering information. It would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”
This weekend was supposed to be Kane’s time with the Stanley Cup which usually means a party, but not this year. It has been reported that Kane had a small quiet gathering with family and friends, totaling around 50 people. Kane also cancelled all of his public appearances with the famous cup.
