New Orleans Pelicans rookie shooting guard Bryce Dejean-Jones has been pronounced this afternoon after being shot yesterday. The saddest part of the story is that it likely all could have been avoided. The full details are still unclear of what happened, but the team confirmed the passing of Dejean-Jones in a statement.

Allegedly, the 23-year-old kicked in the door into an apartment that he believed to be that of an ex-girlfriend. It was not her apartment and the startled owner of the apartment shot Dejean-Jones. The owner was located in the bedroom of the apartment when Dejean-Jones broke down the bedroom door as well at which the owner shot at the intruder. Dallas Police found Dejean-Jones and immediately rushed him to a local hospital.
