After having four neck surgeries, many thought Peyton Manning would be forced to retire. Proving to be a true competitor, Manning signed with the Denver Broncos and started a new chapter in his life. His first year was a good year, but he had another early exit from the playoffs. This year, it was clear he was more determined than ever to get back to the Super Bowl.
From the first game, Manning made it known that he had no mercy for opposing defenses, throwing for seven touchdown passes. The first record his name would come to be associated with this season. Week in and week out, it seemed Manning could predict how defenses were going to play him and knew how to counteract it. Even with a shaky defense, the Broncos remained one of the best, if not the best, team in the National Football League.
To cap off his MVP season, he has broken New England quarterback Tom Brady’s single season touchdown record. A record he once held himself. Passing for four touchdowns, Manning has now completed 51 touchdowns and there is still a week left in the season. Peyton Manning is a teacher on the field, but he is also a teacher in life. People told him he will never be able to play another down of football again and he proved everyone wrong. He showed people to never give up on yourself even when everyone else doubts you. The playoffs are in his future and now comes the real test. Manning is one of the best quarterbacks in the regular season, but will it translate to the postseason? Would you doubt him after this season?
