This game has a lot to live up to after last night’s thriller in Kansas City. Tonight, the backdrop is Pittsburgh in one of the most iconic ballparks. Edinson Volquez is on the mound tonight for the Pirates and looks to complete his bounce back year. Last season, Volquez was released by the Padres, but this season he has looked much more look the All-Star he once was. It will help that his team has been red hot; winning the last 19 out of 25 games.
He will face off against Madison Bumgarner and the San Francisco Giants, who have two World Series title within the last five years. He had a very good season, however, he surrendered five runs in four innings when he faced the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Bumgarner has struggled early in games so it will be important for the Pirates to get to him early. Another plus for the Giants, they know how to win in these big games with most of their current roster playing in those two World Series runs. San Francisco’s manager Bruce Bochy says that will really help in tonight’s quest to advance to the NLDS. Winner of this game will face off against the Washington Nationals.
