While there are rookies who make an impact, there is a crop of disappointing rookies. This year is no exception and there are plenty of big names who look like they could make an impact but are set up for disappointment. Here are my Predicted Disappointing Rookies of the 2016 NFL Draft Class.
Joey Bosa: Even though Bosa has already been compared to JJ Watt, he’s not acting like JJ Watt right now. While Bosa might be talented, he already has a major character flaw.  He’s not actually participating in OTAs and continues to sit on the sidelines. While Bosa was a beast in college and was able to tear up offensive lines, there’s no guarantee that he’ll be able to do that in the NFL. One of the biggest red flags for Bosa is his lack of tackles which was what really stood out in his draft report. With his contract issues, lack of tackles and the fact that he usually loses against the player he tackles, Joey Bosa is headed for disappointment.
Derrick Henry: As last year’s Heisman trophy winner, fans have extremely high expectations for Henry. He was one of the top running backs in college football and helped Alabama win the NCAA Championship. However, that’s all he really has going for him. He had a great year last year, but before that, he was decent. He didn’t really “wow” anyone, but that last year could cause a problem for him. After being such a workhorse for the Crimson Tide, he might be losing some steam. The biggest factor working against Henry right now though is that he’s back to the bottom of the food chain. The Titans surprised everyone by signing DeMarco Murray this offseason and they still have Antonio Andrews, Bishop Sankey, and David Cobb so their backfield is stacked. With Henry being a rookie, it looks like Murray will still get a majority of the touches and Henry will probably be a backup to a backup.
Christian Hackenberg: In a move that puzzled everyone, the New York Jets took Christian Hackenberg in the second round. With contract talks already weary with Ryan Fitzpatrick, adding another QB in the mix hasn’t seemed to help the problem.  At Penn State, Hackenberg was their guy but compared to other quarterbacks in the NFL, he’s pretty average. One of the biggest downsides to Hackenberg is his accuracy, or lack thereof. Even some of the simplest throws, he really does a hack job on. (Get it?) He’s not that reliable of a passer because he’s not consistent with his throws. He could throw two perfect passes in a row and then a wobbler. If he plays this season, he’ll no doubt leave Jets fan groaning and wishing they still had Fitz Magic.
Corey Coleman: At least one Cleveland Brown had to make this list. Coleman was dynamic in college and was projected as one of the top receivers to go in the first round which he did. For a receiver, Coleman is relatively small at only 190 pounds and 5’11”, but one of his biggest weaknesses is his lack of variety. For over half his passes last year, Coleman ran simple routes which are something he won’t be able to get away with in the NFL. His biggest red flag though is that he has terrible hands. Last year, he had ten dropped passes which is completely unacceptable for the NFL and makes him less impactful. With the inconsistency at the quarterback position for the Browns, Coleman’s problems are far from over especially since he probably has no idea who will be throwing to him.
