It is unbelievable, but today the greatest closer Mariano Rivera has announced officially that he is retiring from baseball. Rivera has only played for the Yankees and has the most saves of all time all with one pitch. His command was impeccable, especially in the postseason. He seemed unhittable when he was on the mound, but is was the way he showed in the biggest moments of his career that puts him above the rest. I cannot believe that this day has really come. I was four when he debuted and as a Mets fan, I always hated seeing him come into games, but ultimately always had respect for him. Mo will be the last active player to wear the number 42 which was retired around the league in Jackie Robinson’s honor.
