The couple that started a thousand memes is officially married. News broke early this afternoon that Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and singer Ciara had tied the knot. The Wilsons spared no expense to have the wedding of their dreams; having the ceremony at the Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England. Since the news broke, pictures have been posted and both parties have confirmed that they are indeed married on their respective social media accounts.
As you can see, the couple used the same caption and the same picture to announce the news.
They began dating in early 2015 and the couple announced their engagement in March 2016. The couple got engaged while on vacation after the Pro Bowl. This is Wilson’s second marriage after he quietly divorced his first wife and this is Ciara’s first marriage. Ciara previously dated rapper Future who she had a son with who shares the same name.
Wilson and Ciara have been in the media lately due to apparent death threats from Future. Ciara is reportedly suing Future because she believes that Future has been insinuating in his music that he wants to try to kill Wilson. The couple is also known for Wilson’s declaration that they would stay celibate until after they were married. Wilson’s public admission has inspired a lot of memes and jokes at the sake of his relationship.
Once, there was even a GoFundMe to try to break the couple up. The fund was started by a Seahawks fan who believe that heartbreak would make Wilson a better quarterback. Almost as soon as the page garnered some attention, it was promptly deleted.
Even with everything that has been going on, it’s refreshing to see the couple stick it out and end up together despite all of the drama. From the small preview that we’ve seen, their wedding looked gorgeous and Ciara’s Roberto Cavalli dress looks amazing. Here’s hoping the honeymoon is just as great for the newlyweds and congratulations to the happy couple!
