In what might have been one of the greatest upsets in Rutgers history, Rutgers went on to beat the University of Conneticut Huskies 67-60. It looks like the beginning of the Mike Rice-Eli Carter era. Mike Rice is the new head coach for Rutgers and Eli Carter is the very impressive freshman guard. Carter had 19 points for the Scarlet Knights while another freshman, Myles Mack, added an additional 14 points off the bench. Previously, UConn had beat the Scarlet Knights ten straight times. Even though UConn definitely did not play its best game, they had a season-high 20 turnovers, it was a nail biter until the end. It might have been the longest 30 seconds of a sporting event with each side going back and forth to the foul line. Coach Calhoun who was coming off a three game suspension tried every trick in the book for the Huskies, but they could not get it going against Rutgers zone defense. Rutgers next stop will be against a suddenly slumping Pittsburgh while UConn faces West Virginia.
