After such a thrilling season for Oakland relief pitcher Pat Neshek. After winning the AL West, Neshek announced that his newborn son had passed away only 23 hours after being born. Neshek was not at yesterday’s game as he flew home to be with his wife to witness the birth of Gehrig John. There is no official explanation for the infant’s sudden passing. Neshek took to Twitter to ask for prayers and support during this difficult time. What an awful thing to happen during what should be such an exciting time. No word on if Neshek will pitch in the playoffs, but I am sure everyone would understand if he needed some personal time to be with his wife. My thoughts and condolences are with Neshek and his wife during this difficult time.
