Two of the best teams square off in the Superdome. The New Orleans Saints, coming off a record setting win against the Dallas Cowboys welcomes in the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are coming off a crushing loss to the Carolina Panthers. In the game they only managed to score nine points. To beat these Saints at home, they are going to have to do a lot better than that. Colin Kaepernick may only be starting in his first full season, but he no longer looks like the explosive play maker he was a year ago. This is going to be a tough game for the young quarterback, but if he plays well, he can help hand the Saints their first loss at home.
Some good news for the 49ers, tight end Vernon Davis is likely to play today. Davis was knocked out of last week’s game after suffering a concussion. He has quickly become Kaepernick’s favorite target. Mario Manningham will also play today in his second straight game. It will be good for San Francisco to get their offensive weapons healthy because the Saints have a lot of weapons on offense themselves. Tight end Jimmy Graham is playing through a foot injury, but is still playing better than almost all other tight ends in the league.
It is tough to be against the Saints in New Orleans, and I do not think the 49ers can come away with the upset. The 49ers will play much better than they did a week ago, but they will have to put up a lot of points against the Saints. The 49ers have come away with upsets in the Superdome, but the Saints are rolling after that crushing victory over the Cowboys. This game should be a lot closer withe the Saints facing a much better defense. Saints vs. 49ers- who you takin?
