All the talk about this game has been about the return of Patriots’ tight end Rob Gronkowski. One minute he is ready to make his debut, the next he had a setback and will be out. Instead of making us wait, the Patriots announced earlier that Gronkowski was out today. Not that it matters to the Saints who have the most productive tight end in Jimmy Graham ready to play today. The connection between Drew Brees and Jimmy Graham will make it hard for Tom Brady to get his first win over the Saints’ quarterback; Brady is 0-3 when playing against Brees.
The Patriots offensive struggles have been no secret, but now there are whispers that Gronkowski’s indecisiveness has divided the locker room. With all three of the Patriots’ top receivers out this season, it was only a matter of time before tension was created. Brady demands perfection, but was given much less to work with this season. The Saints, on the other hand, are off to one of their best seasons so far. Welcoming head coach Sean Payton, has really changed this team. Drew Brees is playing more relaxed and not trying to force a throw every down.
It is hard to imagine the Patriots losing two games in a row, but that appears to be the case this week. With the loss of Vince Wilfork, this defense will have a lot to make up for especially with this high-speed offense. The Patriots do not have enough offensive weapons to keep them in a shoot out with the Saints. This will be a big statement win for the Saints in Foxborough. Saints vs. Patriots- who you takin?
