During an emotional ceremony at the San Diego Chargers’ home opener, the Chargers retired the number 55 in honor of the late Junior Seau. Seau killed himself earlier this year. No reason was ever given to explain why he would want to end his own life. He was only 43 years old. His death stirred a lot of controversy about the NFL and its effects on those who retire and how previous concussions could have affected their mental health. The ceremony featured Seau’s parents and children and had a montage of some of his biggest moments as a Charger. San Diego did win the game today, 38-10 over the Titans. I am sure Seau was looking down smiling on his former team.
