One of the greatest things about hockey is that it’s best moments can happen off the ice.
Keaton Hamin has become known as the most selfless little hockey fan in Canada, though what he did could actually make him the most selfless little hockey fan EVER. Back at the beginning of March at a Winnipeg Jets home game, nine-year-old Hamin won a stick signed by the team’s Tyler Myers.
Sitting near Hamin was seven-year-old Alyx Delaloye who is currently undergoing her sixth round of chemo. Delaloye’s excitement over the stick took over her, and as any excited child would, she ran down to get a closer look at it. What Hamin did for his new friend will be a memory that she will remember for the rest of the life. Upon noticing that the younger girl was fighting cancer, he followed her back to his seat and gave her the stick. He knew that he already had a stick at home that his sister received at a Jets game, so he would always have that to play with.
Delaloye and her family were invited into the locker room to meet the whole Jets team following the game. She and Hamon have since developed a very good friendship and even hung out a few times, sharing their love for hockey and their favorite team, the Jets.
