There really is something about those San Francisco Giants! They are just one win away from their third World Series title in just five years. The series returned to San Francisco for games three and four and the Giants represented their home turf proudly.
During game four, the Giants offense exploded for eleven runs. However, it did not look good early in the game for the Giants after starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong was ousted from the game in the third inning. The Royals had taken an early lead, but were unable to hold onto it before the Giants blew the game wide open in the seventh inning. San Francisco hitters are getting the big hits in the big spots. The moment is never too big for them, as cliche as that sounds.
During game five, however, it was all about the Giants’ ace Madison Bumgarner. Bumgarner has been so impressive in his starts, not just in this series, but overall in his World Series starts. He has currently given up ONE run in his four appearances; that run being a home run to Salvador Perez during game one in Kansas City. Bumgarner now owns a perfect 4-0 record in the World Series, with a 0.29 ERA. He pitched a complete game four hit shutout and if the Giants do go on to win the title, will likely be the top MVP candidate.
On a side note, the Giants honored the late super fan Robin Williams. His three children Zelda, Cody, and Zak were al on the mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch to Williams’ good friend and fellow actor Billy Crystal.
