Patrick Kane was flying high after the Blackhawks captured the Stanley Cup once again, but he has had a crash landing since then. Kane has had some pretty ugly allegations following him, including allegedly raping a woman he met at a bar in Buffalo, NY. Despite an ongoing investigation, the Blackhawks have not suspended Kane and are continuing on with business as usual.
The story continues to get uglier and uglier for Kane and it is hard to imagine he has been able to focus on hockey. Today the accuser’s lawyer Thomas J. Eoannou explained that he was no longer “confident” in the story after an alleged rape kit that ended up at the front door of the victim’s mother. This story sounds more and more like a Law and Order: SVU episode every day!
However, the Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita came forward to deny that any evidence was tampered with and was still in police custody. He explained, “Obviously there has been an effort to create a hoax. I gotta figure out who was in on that, why they would do that and what it means vis-a-vis all the other evidence.”
Finally, Kane spoke out about all the drama off the ice. Kane, who is expected to play in tonight’s Blackhawks’ exhibition game against the Blues, spoke to the media explaining his feelings, “I feel like I’ve been trying to work hard at training camp to get my game back and get everything back in order and another opportunity to do that tonight against the Blues.”
He continued, “But what’s going to actually happen is just speculation. I don’t know what comes next.” The superstar right winger still has yet to be charged with any wrongdoing.
