One of the greatest athletes of all time, Simone Biles, is leaving the mega sports brand Nike. Biles is taking her talents to a smaller brand, Athleta. The most decorated American gymnast believes the brand more closely reflects her values.
Athleta, a brand owned by Gap, will give Biles her own line of performance gear. The line will include workout apparel and products.
Biles was one of the biggest stars on Nike’s roster. She was included in this iconic “Dream Crazier” ad that only showcased female athletes. Biles is currently training for the Tokyo Olympics this summer. She vowed to retire after the 2020 games. With the games pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she doubted if she could train for another year. She described the process as mentally exhausting and that she is “pretty old” for a gymnast. Athleta will be working with Biles once she does decide to step away from competition.
