hi-res-185294018-jason-kidd-and-paul-pierce-of-the-brooklyn-nets-talk_crop_northThey were supposed to challenge the Miami Heat for the Eastern Conference Championship this season, but instead the Brooklyn Nets look like a team looking to tank for the upcoming NBA draft.  The Nets look like an old and tired team looking to end their season as soon as possible.  Having a coach with no experience is clearly not working out and it has nothing to do with his spilled soda.

Witha $50,000 fine looming over his head, was Kidd’s trick worth it?  When asked about the incident, he just said, “It’s about trying to win and those guys in that locker room, and I tried to put those guys in a position to get a basket, a good look and we did.”

Well, they did not win that game and they have looked like one of the worst teams in the league.  The blockbuster trade that brought Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Jason Terry looks like it was a bust so far.  The three have underperformed and look miserable on the court.  Little tricks like asking a player to bump into you to cause a timeout may be clever, but they are not how you win championships.  Kidd should know this.  He has won a championship and led the Nets to two Finals appearance without the help of deceptive plots.

It has been a very rough start for Kidd who missed the first two games of the season after getting suspended for his DUI arrest.  They have a 4-12 record, losing ten of their last twelve games.  Tonight, they lost by 19 to a Houston Rockets team that was without Jeremy Lin, and a game they trailed by 30 points at times.  Kidd benched four starters for the second half including Pierce and Joe Johnson.  Injuries have also hurt Brooklyn with point guard Deron Williams never being healthy this season.  It is not going to get any easier for the Nets who travel to Memphis to play the Grizzlies tomorrow night.
