With the NFL draft coming up this week, many have been wondering where each big name prospect will end up. One of the biggest moves was the Tennessee Titans’ big trade with the Los Angeles Rams for the number one overall pick. As the owner of the Titans, Amy Adams-Strunk has been on a mission to rebuild the franchise and her success is why she’s this week’s spotlight.
While not much is known about Adams-Strunk’s background, she is the daughter of former Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans owner, Bud Adams. When Adams passed away in 2012, the family kept their business within the team and have decided to use Amy as their face rather than her sister as her brother is deceased. Since becoming part owner of the Titans and the face of the franchise, she has certainly made some waves. She was responsible for the firing of their general manager Ruston Webster and head coach Ken Whisenhunt before she began rebuilding.
One of her first moves was the search for a new GM and head coach which wasn’t too difficult. She removed the interim tag from Mike Mularkey and made him their new head coach before hiring Jon Robinson as their new general manager. While Adams-Strunk is not really in the public eye, she is definitely working hard behind the scenes. She was ecstatic to hear about the trade with the Philadelphia Eagles that brought Tennessee running back DeMarco Murray in exchange for a fourth-round pick. The biggest splash of the offseason wouldn’t come until later when the Titans would trade their first overall pick to the Los Angeles Rams for almost all of their draft picks this year and next. She is not wasting any time and knows exactly the people to hire to help build up the franchise and make a difference in the right way.
She didn’t stop at trying to just make the team and franchise better. Adams-Strunk is now working on making the stadium even better for the fans. In February, reconstruction began on the inside of the stadium which includes replacing all of the stadium seats, along with replacing the expansion joints all over the stadium. While it is only a little project at the moment, it will make a difference in the long run and shows that Adams-Strunk is trying to make an effort to improve the fans experience at the game.
One of the biggest questions about Amy Adams-Strunk is just that. Who is she? As the owner of a football team, she is one of the most private. There aren’t many pictures of her out there even though she attends all of the team’s games, but has refused all interview requests up to this point. Much like Martha Firestone-Ford, the woman behind the franchise is the ultimate mystery and the thing that makes spotlighting her so interesting.
With the little bit of Adams-Strunk that we know, it’s hard to not talk about her because she gives the public so little. If she refuses all interview and keeps her presence a mystery, it will keep people wondering about the woman behind the franchise. Maybe that’s why she prefers to make all of her moves behind the scenes. No matter what her reasoning is, the doubt in the Titans has to be diminished a little with Amy Adams-Strunk in control.
