Today is the finally the day football fans! Your franchise could instantly be changed by the end of the night. It is of course draft day! It is always exciting to see young college players get their name called while fans cheer at home about the possibilities of how good their franchise’s odds are to win this season. Even though you have probably read at least ten mock drafts, here is SportsAsToldByAGirl’s top five predictions.
1. Cleveland Browns: QB Josh Allen
Adam Schefter is currently reporting that the team is more and more likely to select QB Baker Mayfield with one of their top five picks, however I do not believe that. I know Cleveland is notorious for taking the wrong pick, however, Todd Haley really loves Allen and I believe he wants to mold him after Ben Roethlisberger.
2. New York Giants: RB Saquon Barkley.
It’s not like the Giants should not be thinking quarterback here, however, this team has the potential to win now with the right pieces and that is what Barkley is. Eli Manning has had terrible stats for a few seasons now, however, all of the problems will not disappear with a new quarterback. This team made a very foolish decision by not playing Davis Webb at all last season so they might already have Eli’s successor, but they also might not. They definitely do not have a good enough running back on their roster and that is why I believe they take the Penn State running back.
3. New York Jets: QB Baker Mayfield
Can’t you see Baker in Jets green? I just seems like a match made in heaven. Baker loves the spotlight so all of those narratives about playing in New York are null and void and he would bring so much excitement to a fan base that has not been excited in years. This team is trending upwards and this could be a fun team with Mayfield.
4. Cleveland Browns: DE Bradley Chubb
If the Browns do not trade this pick, which I do not believe they do, they will look to the other side of the ball. Last year they picked up Myles Garrett and adding Chubb would instantly make Cleveland one of the most feared pass rushing pairs in the league. This is finally the year, the Browns start to make the right decisions.
5. Denver Broncos: G Quenton Nelson
The Broncos went out in the offseason and got their quarterback. John Play has said that will not stop the team from taking a quarterback in the draft, however, I am not buying it. This team still has Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas so I do not believe they look at skill players with this pick, however, they need some protection for their quarterback. That is their absolute top need and Nelson fits that role. He is the top guard in the draft and might end up being one of the best picks for years to come.
