After a few months hiatus, the Spotlight feature on SportsAsToldByAGirl is coming back with a new format, new ladies, and new ideas! If you’ve been following SportsAsToldByAGirl for the past few years, you’ll know we introduced a new series. Entitled “Spotlight,” the series spotlighted a female athlete, sports personality or a woman involved with sports who deserves recognition.
It could be a big name athlete such as Serena Williams, a personality like Katie Nolan or a sports journalists such as Charlotte Wilder. At the end of the day, Spotlight was there to celebrate ladies in sports and their accomplishments and now it’s coming back.
Onto the changes for spotlight. The changes aren’t going to be huge, so no worries if you were a fan. The one thing that won’t change is spotlight is still going to be a weekly feature.
The format will change week-to-week, depending on what I decide to cover. Now onto the most exciting change of all, I won’t just be covering female athletes. While I might cover just female athletes, personalities or journalists one week, I might give recommendations for female-led podcasts, blogs or companies. It’s going to be a way to spread more love but still, keep the heart of the idea.
Since October’s already halfway over, the new series won’t launch until November. Until then, there’s a huge back catalog of spotlight articles for you to read. You can always feel free to hit us up on Twitter with suggestions or even nominate yourself. It’s going to be a turning point for the series and something that will hopefully spark a new wave of interest in sporty ladies.
Come to SportsAsToldByAGirl on November 1st for a brand-new Spotlight!
