Another Sunday ends, another week of the NFL ends. It was another wild one with the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos staying perfect, while other teams continue to stay stuck in neutral.
- Starting off with the thriller in Foxborough, what a game-winning drive by the one and only Tom Brady! After throwing a costly interception with two minutes left in the game, New England’s defense came up huge to make the Saints punt and give the ball back to Brady. After leading his team down the field, Brady laid up a beautiful pass to the back of the end zone that Kenbrell Thompkins brought in for the game-winning touchdown. It was a thing of beauty. There was nothing the Saints could do, but watch as their perfect record came to an end. It was the first time the Saints defense gave up 30 points this season. It was a statement game for Brady who put the offense on his back and made perfect throws on that final drive. It put to rest that Brady would not succeed without Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, and Wes Welker.
- The Steelers finally got their first win this season. After getting a bye week and some additional rest, Big Ben and the rest of the Steelers looked like a rejuvenated team with a chip on their shoulder. It took them a few series to get comfortable, but Roethlisberger made some explosive plays down the field that helped this team boost its’ already shaky morale. The Jets, coming off a big win against the Atlanta Falcons, looked lost for the most part and never got anything going. Geno Smith failed to throw for a touchdown, and instead gave the Steelers their first two takeaways with two interceptions.
- The biggest surprise of the week came from the Jacksonville Jaguars who actually kept up with the Denver Broncos for almost three quarters. Most people expected the Broncos to be up 50-0 at the half, and weighed the possibility of sitting Peyton Manning. While, Manning did not disappoint with his performance, he did crash back to Earth when he threw an interception that Paul Posluszny returned for a touchdown. The Jaguars were down 14-12 at halftime. It just goes to show that there is no such thing as a “for-sure” pick in the NFL!
- The Bengals proved to be inconsistent yet again. Last week, they came off a statement win against the New England Patriots and halted Tom Brady’s touchdown record. This week, it took them four quarters plus overtime to defeat the Bills. The Bills had practice squad quarterback Thad Lewis playing starting quarterback in the place of injured rookie EJ Manuel.
